Full Spectrum Doula Services
Beyond Earthside is a Black-owned doula service created by Norma to mitigate the lack of support, abuse, and fear-mongering people in the reproductive and birth world face. They are a full-spectrum doula and senior student midwife located in Richmond, KY providing care from reproductive care in person and virtually.
As a doula, Norma provides each of her clients with personalized, holistic care. They know that a person is more than the information found in their medical history. Holistic care aims to break people out of the boxes they have been placed in. By looking at all parts of a person, from their family and support system to their concerns and vision for their birth, Norma is able to provide better care for her clients.
Beyond Earthside is accepting birth clients up to an hour away, including Lexington, KY; Berea, KY; Frankfort, KY; Stanford, KY; and Georgetown, KY as well as, overnight clients up to 2 hours away, including Louisville, KY; Morehead, KY, Elizabethtown, KY; Knoxville, TN; and Cincinnati, OH.
Our Mission
Norma got into birthwork out of a desire to make a difference in the reproductive outcomes in their community. She has a particular interest in helping Black, POC, and low-income families. They aim to provide each family with customized support that addresses their needs and empowers them. Norma views their clients as an extension of her family and is accepting of everyone. They have worked with families of all kinds including nuclear, adoptive, & LGBTQ+ and hope to work with yours next!

Knowing birthwork begins before conception and lasts far past birth, Norma wanted a name that reflected that commitment. They also understand the value of the whole person and how much of this journey is mental and emotional. To provide better support, she is pursuing a Master’s of Social Work to better support people throughout their walk into parenthood. Beyond Earthside was born from the desire to provide individual care rooted in traditional methods emphasizing overall wellbeing.
Our Purpose
Beyond Earthside is founded on the principle of bodily autonomy and sovereignty. Norma believes you should determine what works best for your family and your situation. They provide each client with evidence-based information while allowing them to make their own decisions about care. She not only supports your decisions, but will advocate for your wishes to be followed every step of the way. If there needs to be a change in plans, Norma is there to provide any additional information that may be missing and answer whatever questions you have.
